We are rolling out an updated Wallet Services Policy to align with new regulatory security standards for self-custody infrastructure. This affects how withdrawal requests are validated across StartOS Bitcoin, Lightning, and BTCPay services.
September 7, 2026
10 business days to comply
funds unaffected
what you need to do
Review the updated Wallet Services Policy and confirm acceptance through your StartOS dashboard. The update takes under two minutes.
Deadline: September 21, 2026
Accounts with unacknowledged policies may have wallet services restricted after this date.
what is changing
Regulators have introduced updated requirements for self-hosted payment and wallet infrastructure operators. In response, Start9 Labs is updating the Wallet Services Policy that governs how StartOS validates and logs withdrawal transactions across Bitcoin Core, Core Lightning, and BTCPay Server.
Enhanced withdrawal verification: All outbound transactions now require an additional config-level confirmation step before broadcast.
Updated audit logging: Service-level transaction logs will be retained in accordance with the new framework.
Revised Terms of Service: The policy language has been clarified to reflect your responsibilities as a node operator under the updated rules.
why this matters for your node
StartOS has always given you full control over your funds. These changes do not alter that. What they do is add a standardized validation layer so that withdrawal operations meet the same security benchmarks expected of self-custody infrastructure in 2026.
If you run a public-facing BTCPay store or Lightning node, you will need to review and accept the updated policy so that your services remain fully operational. Non-compliance will not affect your funds, but it may trigger service restrictions until the policy is acknowledged.
Your funds and assets are completely unaffected. This is a policy and config-layer update only. No private keys are touched, no balances are moved, and no service restarts are required unless you choose to update.
